The ride is underway! While I am out on the road, I will attempt to post here using my cell phone. We'll see how it goes.
Day 1, June 4, 2005
Orientation Day, San Francisco
As I was taking my bike out of the car at the Cow Palace, it struck of that at this point there would be no turning back. Little did I realize that it was actually when they strapped the Services band around my wrist that I was in for good. Now I sit at taking care of a few last things before heading to bed, expecting a cab to pick me up at 4:30 am. Once in a while throughout the training process I would get this overwhelming feeling of... well awe, I guess, at the prospect of undertaking the ride. That feeling was quite present today at several moments, most notably during the safety video, which had plenty of "bikes on the open road" imagery. Plus, my friend Kyle and I were in that video demonstrating hand signals, because his friend Richard directed it. this is going to be unreal.

I
am riding to support
AIDS services in San Francisco
in AIDS/LifeCycle 4
I would like to send a huge THANK YOU to the friends, family, and colleagues who have provided tremendous support throughout this entire process, in so many ways. With your help, I have raised $8,635 for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.
More daily updates can be found on the AIDS/LifeCycle web site.
I also kept a blog of my training rides. |
