Day Seven, Ventura to Los Angeles

Day 1 2 3 4 5 6 7

Nous Arrivons

Wow, here it is. The final day. The big challenge today is not some hill with an intimidating name; it's the Pacific Coast Highway. Getting through Malibu, avoiding car doors, tourists, and surfers, takes a lot of energy. And we made it. There's nothing quite like riding into Santa Monica, my old stomping ground, and realizing that I got here on a bike! It's also quite hilarious that, upon heading North from the bike path there, into Santa Monica Canyon and up into Westwood, the last five miles are all uphill. You think you're done? Just a little more climbing!

My friend John was there to meet us as we rode in. Aaron, who did the ride with Shawn last year, was also on hand with refreshments, which we enjoyed as we waited for the other riders to pull in before beginning Closing Ceremonies. After getting back to the hotel and cleaning up (wow! indoor plumbing! woo hoo!), I had an intimate dinner with 11 of my friends. Spa day tomorrow, and it's back to SF on Monday. I made it!

Thanks again to my friends, family, and colleagues who have given their support, financial and otherwise. It is truly amazing to see what we have accomplished here. We raised over $8,800. The ride as a whole brought in $11.6 million this year. Thanks, everyone!
